The Indian Army shot and killed two terrorists who attempted to break into an Army base in Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir, on Thursday. During the operation, three soldiers also perished.
An encounter broke out after terrorists tried a suicide strike on an Army company operating base. The exchange of fire also resulted in injuries to five jawans. The Indian Army said that the operation is now over.

According to ANI, Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, said, “Someone attempted to trespass the fence of the Army camp at Pargal in the Darhal neighbourhood of Rajouri. The exchange of fire happened. Added parties despatched to the spot, which is 6 kilometres from Darhal PS. Killing of two terrorists.”

Omar Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, expressed regret over the deaths of the three troops. “Very sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri. While condemning the attack I send my condolences to the families & my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers & jawans injured in the attack #Rajouri,”(sic) the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister tweeted.
Three LeT terrorists were defeated by security troops in Budgam on Wednesday. One of the killed terrorists was a culprit in the killing of civilians Rahul Bhat and Amreen Bhat.
The attack occurs before Independence Day festivities, and as a result, the police and security personnel are already on high alert.
