PRIOR ATTACKS
According to ADGP Vijay Kumar, 93 engagements with security forces resulted in the deaths of around 172 militants last year. He referred to it as a “major gain” in the fight against terrorism. With the exception of Farooq Nalli, the chairman of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), and Reeyaz Sethri, the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), all of the chiefs and top commanders of all terror organizations were neutralised, he continues. There are reports that these two will be defeated quickly.
Around 26 members of the security forces, including 14 J&K Police officers, lost their lives fighting the terrorists. In the past year, the terrorist was responsible for the deaths of about 29 civilians. Out of the 29, six (including three Kashmiri Pandits) were Hindus, 15 (including eight local Muslims) were Muslims, and the remaining seven (including two from other states) were Muslims.
With the exception of Basit Dar and Adil Wani, none of the terrorists connected to these crimes have been neutralized.
According to Kumar, the number of new terrorist recruitment has decreased by over 37% this year compared to last year, with only 100 fresh recruits.
