In postal ballot counting, BJP takes early leadÂ
Counting based on postal ballot shows an early lead of BJP [the Bharatiya Janata Party]. The party is willing to retain its power in Uttar Pradesh.
Early figures show that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has crossed the halfway mark, leading in 248 seats. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading in 101 seats. Congress and BSP are leading in eight seats, each.
Although the exit polls have predicted a victory of the BJP government. SP [The Samajwadi Party] in alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal put up an aggressive battle, representing support from West Bengal.
The eyes are on Lucknow, the heart of UP politics; Sirathu, from where the deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya is up against SP’s Pallavi Patel and Varanasi, the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In Uttarakhand tight fight among BJP and Congress
The counting of votes started today early in the morning for the 70-constituency-state. Uttarakhand voted for their new government on February 14. 59.51 per cent of voters turn out the state recorded it. The exit polls predicted that Uttarakhand’s results would end in a dead heat. There is a tough fight among the ruling BJP and a rejuvenated Congress in hill states.
The battle is tight for both contenders — former Congress CM Harish Rawat and the incumbent Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
AAP leads as counting begins with postal votes
The Counting of votes started today early at 8 am at 117 centres in 66 locations.
The Aam Aadmi Party appeared to be leading as counting of postal votes in the election for 117 assembly seats in Punjab. A total of 1,304 candidates, including 93 women and two transgenders, were in the fray. 71.95 per cent voter turnout and cast their votes the state recorded it. Compared to three previous assembly elections it was the lowest percentage of voting in the state.
All eyes are on the high-stakes contest in the state where Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as a major contender to Congress, which is looking to retain power in the multi-cornered contest.
Many exit polls have predicted that Charanjit Singh Channi will lose his CM’s seats and the AAP’s Bhagwant Mann will unseat him.
Early numbers show BJP leading in seats in Goa
Early numbers in Goa indicate that the BJP is leading in the state in 21 assembly constituencies, while Congress is leading in eleven seats. Even the exit polls predicted that the results in Goa would end in a dead heat. Goa went to the polls in a single phase on February 14.
Goa is witnessing a multi-cornered contest with parties including the Congress, BJP, Trinamool Congress, and AAP in the fray. The Congress had emerged as the single largest party, winning 17 seats in 2017. Although the BJP won 13 seats.
Manipur BJP seeks to retain power, Congress remains hopeful
The first round of counting of postal ballot votes is underway in Imphal East district’s Khundrakpam, Heingang, Kshetrigao, Yaiskul and Keirao constituencies. Assembly polls in Manipur were conducted in two phases on February 28 and March 5.
All eyes are on the results of Assembly elections in Manipur where the Bharatiya Janata Party looks to retain power. At the same time Congress is too remains hopeful of a win.
