On 10th October, World Mental Health Day is held all around the world to raise awareness about mental health issues that have rapidly increased due to the pandemic crisis.
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from October 5 to 10, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the Green Ribbon Initiative to increase awareness on mental health.
Green ribbons were presented by Health Minister Mandaviya to Union Health Ministry officials and media members present to promote awareness about the removal of mental health stigmas and the development of a healthy mind for holistic health.
As part of total well-being, the Ministry of Health promotes ‘Mental Health Awareness Campaign Week.’
It is critical to recognize mental health disorders so that appropriate action can be taken. According to the health minister, good mental health allows you to make more significant contributions to society. Counseling services are now available in India.

“This green ribbon is a symbol of mental wellness,” he stated as he handed out green ribbons to senior officials.
In our society, we need to raise more awareness regarding mental health.” Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the importance of all sorts of health and well-being for advancement.
“Without healthy individuals, a healthy family, and by extension, a healthy society and a healthy nation, will not exist.”
“Health, whether physical or mental, leads to low productivity, which has a negative impact on a country’s economy and output”.
Further he added, “Three students out of ten suffer from mental health concerns,” the Minister said, urging the audience to take action to address the issue of mental health in India.
Our youngsters suffer from mental illness around 14% of the time.” He emphasized the importance of educating parents, teachers, and other stakeholders on how to recognize and assist young citizens in need.
“We need to start talking about mental health concerns in the home first, and then gradually expand to the school setting,”.
We need to train our teachers so that they can recognize mental health difficulties in children.” He went on to say that it’s critical to recognize, acknowledge, and diagnose mental illness.
