New Delhi, 1st October : For the sixth consecutive year, Indore was named the cleanest city in India, with Surat and Navi Mumbai coming in second and third, respectively, according to the results of the Central Government’s annual cleanliness survey, which were released on Saturday.
Prior to Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh has won the “Swachh Survekshan Awards 2022” category for best performing state.
Indore and Surat continued to be the top two major cities this year, while Vijaywada fell to third place behind Navi Mumbai.
Tripura is ranked first among the states with fewer than 100 urban local bodies, according to the survey’s findings.
At a ceremony held here on Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu presented the prizes to the winners alongside others, including Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
Panchgani in Maharashtra, Patan (NP) in Chhattisgarh, and Karhad in Maharashtra were the top three cities in the category of towns with fewer than one lakh inhabitants.
Varanasi, Rishikesh, and Haridwar were ranked as the next three cleanest Ganga towns in the category of more than 1 lakh inhabitants. PTI BUN Bijnor, followed by Kannauj and Garhmukhteshwar, was ranked first among Ganga towns with fewer than one lakh inhabitants.
The survey determined that the Deolali Cantonment Board in Maharashtra was the nation’s cleanest.
The seventh edition of Swachh Survekshan was carried out to assess the success of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and rank the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in accordance with various standards for cleanliness and sanitation.
