Hardik Pandya has participated in all three of the practice matches so far and has scored 46 runs, although he has not been successful in taking a wicket. On Wednesday, India will play New Zealand in another practice match, and he will be hoping to overturn that result.
India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya feels that coming to Australia 17 days before the World Cup will be pretty beneficial for India and himself when the tournament begins.
“You can’t ask for a better scenario for me or the entire team to come here and spend 17 days before the World Cup starts and get accustomed to the conditions, atmosphere, and weather,” Hardik said in an interview with the BCCI website. He was also excited to come to Australia 17 days prior to the world cup and he believes it will benefit him in getting acclimatized to the weather and bounce in wickets.
Hardik Pandya is satisfied with his game in warm-up matches
The swashbuckling hitter also stated that he was quite satisfied with how he tackled the warm-up games against Western Australia and Australia.
“Today met all of my expectations. It wasn’t the number of runs I scored, but rather how I approached the game and how well I adapted to the circumstances that arose during it,” he explained. Further, he added that he almost played 21 balls and middled most of them and that’s what matters to him, not the big scores.
Although he is not able to score big runs or get wickets in the warm-up matches he is still satisfied with his work ethic and also feels that he is in good touch.
Advantage of a fast start in Australia
Hardik also confirmed the fact that one of his other teammates had also earlier mentioned. The fact is that if a player can get off to a fast start in Australia, he will be able to use the conditions to his advantage, particularly if he is a fast bowler.
Hardik Goals for this Year
One of the players brought up a very valid point when they mentioned that in Australia, the game is played over the course of one inning. Once you have become accustomed to the playing conditions, you will be able to score a significant number of runs if you are able to obtain the inning early in the season, Pandya added.
Further, he also mentioned that a fast bowler faces similar challenges.
Later, he also revealed his goals for this year. He asserted that he wants to come and grab a catch that may be one of the best catches of his career.
This is one such goal he has set for this year.
Hardik Pandya has featured in all three warm-up games, scoring 46 runs without claiming a wicket.
