Celine Dion the Titanic famous Canadian singer who is known for her powerful vocals is diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.
In an emotional video, Celine Dion revealed that she has been diagnosed with Stiff-person Syndrome, a “very rare neurological disorder” that affects her voice. Singer Dion posted a five-minute video on Instagram in French and English that detailed her long-standing health issues.
Also, proclaimed that she will postpone the spring performances of her 2024 European Courage World Tour scheduled from February 24 through April 11, 2024, to spring 2024. And, that she will cancel eight performances in the summer of 2024. The performances are rescheduled from August 26 to October 4, 2024, and will remain on the schedule.
Celine’s message to her fans
“I have found it tough to face these difficulties and to share everything I have been through for a long time due to my health,” Celine said. Sadly, I will not be able to resume my European tour in February … I miss seeing each of you, being on stage, and performing for you.
It is always my goal to give 100% during my shows, but I am unable to do so right now. In order for me to reach you again, I must focus on my health, and I am hopeful that I am on my way to recovery,” she shared.
What is a stiff-person syndrome?
This is a rare central nervous system illness with autoimmune movement symptoms (the brain and spinal cord). A person with this condition initially experiences stiffness and rigidity in their trunk muscles followed by stiffness and rigidity in their legs and other muscles over time.
It is extremely rare to have stiff person syndrome. A person with this syndrome is diagnosed about once, in a million. It is twice as common in women as in men. In most cases, symptoms develop between the ages of 30 and 60, although they can occur at any age.
Scientists are unknown as to what causes stiff person syndrome. There is currently no known way to stop it.
