Bharat Jodo Yatra arrived today in Delhi amid the Health Minister’s caution on Covid protocol. Thousands of people joined the Yatra in Delhi and welcomed it. Party leaders Jairam Ramesh, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Pawan Kheda, and many more joined the Yatra in Delhi. Former party President Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also joined it.
Bharat Jodo Yatra- A Rival
In his mission to bring the country together, Rahul Gandhi started this yatra in September from Kanyakumari in the South. Basically, throughout the yatra, he continuously asserted the fact that Bharat Jodo is a medium to spread ‘love’ against existing ‘hate’ in the country.
He accused the BJP is spreading hate in India and to counter it he is marching in this yatra. In Delhi, he said, the goal of this yatra is to open ‘Mohabbat ki dukaan’ against ‘Nafrat ka bajaar’. Rahul Gandhi is subsequently attacking the BJP and RSS accusing them of spreading hate in society.
Depicting the purpose of this yatra is to show ‘real Hindustan’ where people support each other, Rahul Gandhi blamed the ruling party for dividing the country. This padayatra is ongoing from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to unite our nation against hatred and division, says the official Twitter handle of Bharat Jodo yatra.
In rival to BJP, this yatra also focuses on the issues of increasing unemployment and soaring prices of food items, inflation, divisive politics, etc. well the aim is apparent but will it be able to succeed in countering these issues is a matter of time, we have to ‘wait and watch’.
Issues of national interests are more crucial and hold the interest of people from varied sections of society. If this padayatra is involving itself in rising voices for these issues then the party will definitely get some benefits. Otherwise only focusing and countering against BJP is definitely not going to help the Congress party.
Bharat Jodo Yatra- A Revival
Since 2014, when the Congress party lost the general election, its popularity and outreach among people also faded away in some manner. Its internal structure and basic tenets of the ideology were questioned by its own participants. Over time the Congress party weekend day by day and some of its leaders also left it to join BJP.
In recent years few influential leaders also left and betrayed the party. So all this tantrum led the party to unavoidable losses in various elections. Its defeat becomes targetable for other parties due to the reluctance of the Congress party workers in the campaigns. The frame of the party becomes less rigid, anybody can brake it or alter it.
A few years back when speculations rise that whether Congress will be able to withhold the chair of the opposition or not, a few state parties questioned its relevance and bated for themselves to lead the Mahagathbandhan. So the need for revival is the most desirable thing for the party and it must put its focus on it so that once again The Congress party can become an alternative for the people.
The first major issue was tackled when earlier Rahul Gandhi sidelined himself from the position of party president and also declared that he will not contest for this role in the future. As we are all aware how the Congress party was vehemently accused by Mr. Modi of nurturing parivarwad and promoting nepotism. Mr. Gandhi’s decision tackled this allegation in some manner at least for now.
So in an attempt to revive its very identity, ideology, and its outreach among the people, the Congress party must enable itself to take some hardcore decisions for the convenience of the party. The appointment of Kharge as a party president and the already commenced Bharat Jodo Yatra is the need of time and the party is managing it progressively.
Whether Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is a publicity gimmick, a nautanki, or an earnest attempt to unite India, the time itself will make this clear.
