What exactly should meta users expect in the new plan?
Meta Platforms is going to try out a brand-new plan in Australia and New Zealand, and it will only cost you $11.99 per month.
Users of Meta Platform will soon be able to authenticate their profiles with official identification and gain immediate access to technical support thanks to a new premium subscription model.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, announced the launch of Meta Verified on Sunday through social media content. According to a representative from Meta, it is also intended to “assist up-and-coming creators to grow their visibility and create communities faster.”
Meta recently reported that subscription plans to the service would then cost $11.99 for Facebook and Instagram accounts that subscribe through an internet browser, and $14.99 for those who subscribe using devices android based and Apple Inc.’s iOS system. This week, the system will be tested. As stated by the spokesperson, the company plans to launch it in the United States and then expand to other market economies in the following months.
What is the purpose behind the subscription?
The decision to offer a monthly subscription is indicative of the many problems Meta is currently experiencing. It has had to deal with fake profiles and customer grievances about them for quite some time. Many customers have complained that they were unable to connect with support when they ran into problems like account hacking or lockouts.
Furthermore, marketing plays a crucial role in the company’s success. The company’s success could improve if it invests more heavily in subscription services, depending on the number of users who sign up. Meta reported 2.5 billion average users worldwide on Facebook in December, with approximately three billion subscribers across all of its platforms.
Several major technology companies have recently announced significant numbers of layoffs as a result of the consequences of economic instability. This month, Meta reported a revenue reduction for the fourth quarter, citing insufficient marketing demand as a result of the ambiguous macroeconomic landscape. Mr. Zuckerberg previously stated that improving efficiency is a top priority for the company.
What was offered to the users?
In December, Twitter, Inc. modified its premium subscription service, allowing users access to additional functionalities like the ability to modify Twitter posts, improved video uploads, and the company’s renowned blue tick sign after their account has been assessed for verifying.
Elon Musk, the network’s owner, is trying to wean Twitter off of advertising revenue, and he’s doing it by charging users $11 per month through the iOS app and $8 per month via the internet browser for access to the Twitter Blue facility.
Since last year, Snap. inc also offered a premium membership tier called Snapchat+ for $4.00 per month. The social network promised these enhancements would be rolled out gradually.
Meta has provided account identification for a select few users for a long time. Meta began verifying the identities of Page administrators in 2018, and by 2020, it planned to expand the practice to include some profiles with sizable U.S. followings. As stated by the spokesperson, accounts with verified credentials (a blue tick mark beside the name) will not be affected at this time.
Creators on Meta can already start charging a subscription fee for access to their work. According to the official spokesman, the service became available to all qualified creators in the United States in the month of November. The United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada are being used as test markets for the customer experience.
