Another star for India, Alia Bhatt, made her debut at the fashion night wearing Prabal Gurung.
This debut, along with the overall minimalistic look of Alia, is definitely going down in history. This may be the new mommy’s and terrific actress’ debut at the Met Gala, but she for sure nailed the look and carried it with her charm and elegance.
Prior to her Hollywood debut in “Heart of Stone,” which is meant to be the first instalment in a series analogous to Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible,” she had made this appearance. She really knows how to work it and slay the iconic look with panache and her presence with elan.
The look
The diva looked stunning in the voluminous gown, which was adorned with a variety of pearls. With a bustle and train highlighting the silhouette, Alia looked dapper with minimal makeup. She was referred to as “a breath of fresh air” and “an angel” on the Met Gala carpet. She chose a flared gown, and kept her tresses self-tied and looked away from the camera as she struck a classic pose.
She opted for a sleeveless white gown embellished with pearls, along with several pieces of jewellery, including rings and a pair of earrings, to match with attire. Prabal, who wore the iconic Chanel Camellia flower, looked stunning in the white suit, and it went wonderfully with the rest of his outfit. He also accessorised with a pearl necklace. Alia was styled by celebrity fashion stylist Anaita Shroff Adajani, and her make-up was done by celebrity MUA Puneet B. Saini.
Earlier, she teased a glimpse of her first look on Instagram, posing in her monochrome masterpiece with the caption “& here we go”. This is indeed a proud moment for India to have their people reach heights of success and be invited to the Met Gala. In recent years, Indian celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, and Isha Ambani have made headlines for their stunning looks at the Met. Now, it’s Alia’s time to shine.
The designer
As we all know by now, the gorgeous look of Alia’s full of precious pearls was designed by renowned American fashion designer Prabal Gurung. Prabal got her looking like a bride in white at the Met and stood by her side proudly as she posed for the shutterbugs.
Prabal shared a sneak preview of the couture items that his stunning muses would be wearing before the big unveiling. The designs radiated flair and glitz, using everything from rare pearls to gorgeous satins. Prabal Gurung’s designs have been honoured on the Met’s stairs over the years by the greatest in the film and fashion industries. This year, the acclaimed designer had stars sashay down the Met carpet in jewel-encrusted outfits.
About the Met Gala 2024
The Met Gala is a charity event that takes place every year on the first Monday of the month of May. This year, the fashion-forward day fell on May 1. The gala, which is hosted in New York City by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is organised there. Wintour is one of the five hosts this year, as she always is, along with Michaela Coel, longtime Chanel ambassador Penelope Cruz, former tennis superstar Roger Federer, and a musician named Dua Lipa.
As is customary each year, there will be a special theme this year as well. The theme of the Met Gala 2024 is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, honouring the late German designer’s legacy, who passed away in the year 2019, and his unparalleled contributions to the world of fashion. The theme celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute’s new spring exhibition from May 5 to July 16.
La La Anthony, a producer and performer, will moderate the Met Gala live stream, along with Derek Blasberg, a writer, and Chloe Fineman, a cast member of Saturday Night Live. Internet multi-hyphenate Emma Chamberlin will return as Vogue’s special correspondent.
