Delhi CM’s wife to fight for her brother in law, she fights the elections on their behalf of AAP’s Chief Ministerial Candidate.
Questions raised on Rabia Kaur calling Charanjit Channi “Dishonest,” Candidates are gearing up in campaigns.
With Assembly elections round the corner for Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, tension runs high across all five states.
Punjab Congress recently announced Charanjit Channi as its CM face in the upcoming Assembly elections in the ‘Awaz di Punjab’ rally on February 6.
Charanjit Channi was appointed as the CM of Punjab after replacing Amrinder Singh in November 2021. This announcement led to the stop of a long period of speculation over the face of the Chief Ministerial Candidate.
It was expected that this would ultimately settle things for the Congress party for a while, but the peace did not prevail long, with Rabia Kaur stirring issues back into action.
A video was posted by ANI News Agency, where Rabia Kaur, daughter of Navjot Singh Sidhu, was asked to share her views on Congress’s decision to appoint Channi as the face of the Chief Ministerial Candidate.
She replied,” Maybe the party high command had some compulsion.
I have no say in this, good for them.
But you can’t stop an honest man for long. And a dishonest man has to eventually stop.” This statement raised whether she called the Chief Minister of Punjab “dishonest” or not.
Before this statement, former CM of Punjab Amrinder Singh had also mentioned his reservations against naming Channi as the CM of Punjab.
On the flip side of the coin, Aam Aadmi Party had chosen Bhagwat Maan as their face of Chief Ministerial Candidate for the Punjab Assembly Elections.
Bhagwat Mann had won two times as the MP from Sangrur and in 2017 had led the party to win 20 out of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly.
Mr. Maan had mentioned that he had got an overwhelming response indicating the Congress defeat in the state.
In this regard, Arvind Kejriwal’s Wife, Sunita Kejriwal, had tweeted that she, along with her daughter, would come down to Punjab and would fight and campaign alongside her “Brother-in-law” in the elections.
This comes when Mr. Maan has commented that Punjab is fed up with Congress ruling the state. He pointed out that Congress gave two corrupt Chief Ministers in five years.
He claimed that he was the only MP who had raised his voice during the Farmer’s protest, and nobody stood along with him during that time.
Punjab will go to the polls on February 20 instead of February 14, which was decided earlier, owning to the request made by all the parties to factor in the Guru Ravidas Jayanti celebrations while setting the date of the polls.
Votes are placed to be counted on March 10. Further information is still awaited.
