Actress Anushka Sharma will be making her debut at Cannes 2024. She will take part in an event that honours women in cinema.
Actress Anushka Sharma was seen on Sunday leaving Mumbai for Cannes, where she and Oscar-winning actor Kate Winslet will honour women in film. This year’s prestigious festival is where she is expected to make her debut and walk the red carpet.
Anushka Sharma’s Appearance at Cannes
Anushka’s appearance at Cannes earlier this month had been announced by the French ambassador to India, Emmanuel Lenain. The actor will visit the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, as the ambassador disclosed in a photo from their encounter.
Emmanuel Lenin tweeted a picture along with a caption expressing how nice it was to meet Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. He also noted Anushka’s travel to the famous film festival and expressed his best wishes for Kohli and Team India in the upcoming competitions.
Due to the injury to Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli is now the acting captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, so he will probably be very busy with the Indian Premier League this month. He probably won’t go to the movie festival with Anushka because of this.
Anushka, who is on her way to the French Riviera, will be making her festival debut, where she will participate in a celebration of women in film alongside Oscar winner Kate Winslet. Watching Anushka choose her outfit for her Cannes debut this year will be exciting. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Aditi Rao Hydari were among the Indian celebrities who previously made their Cannes debut.
Anushka is a spokesperson for the L’Oreal cosmetics company and will likely represent the company at the film festival. She filmed in Paris for the company’s advertisements last year, posting snippets of her experience online.
Indian Representation at Cannes
This year’s film festival had a significant presence from India. Aishwarya Rai, a Cannes veteran who has been making back-to-back performances at the festival, as well as famous people like Sara Ali Khan and Mrunal Thakur, both of whom made their Cannes debut this year, were among those in attendance thus far.
Along with other Indian celebs, Manushi Chhillar, Esha Gupta, Urvashi Rautela, Anurag Kashyap, and Guneet Monga will walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.
Bollywood celebrities who attended the festival and walked the red carpet as part of numerous collaborations with high-end fashion or luxury labels including Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat and Pooja Hegde among others. Kennedy and Agra, two Indian films, will be screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Indian Films at Cannes and Anushka Sharma’s Upcoming Work
This year’s Cannes Film Festival will debut four Indian films. Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap, is among the films. The motion picture will be screened at the Midnight Screenings section of the famous film event. Iris Knobloch, a distributor of motion pictures, and Thierry Fremaux, the festival’s director, made the revelation at a press conference in Cannes.
The short film Nehemich, directed by FTII alumnus Yudhajit Basu, will make its debut at the Short Films Section. Kanu Behl’s Agra, which will make its debut in the Director’s Fortnight Section, examines the sexual dynamics within a family and the profound rifts that are emerging in contemporary India due to a lack of physical space. Ishanou, a 1990 film by Aribam Syam Sharma, will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival.
Anushka makes her cinematic comeback this year with the movie Chakda Xpress, in which she plays cricket player Jhulan Goswami, which will stream on Netflix, exclusively.
Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif acted alongside her in her most recent film, Zero, which was helmed by Aanand L. Rai. She last made an appearance in the movie Qala (2022), in the song Ghodey Pe Sawaar.
