Uttar Pradesh Legislative assembly elections are being held from 10th of February to 7th of March, divided into seven phases. The second phase election will conduct on the 14th of February in 9 districts and 55 assembly seats. Votes will be counted on the 10th of March.Â
Surendra Singh, a member of legislative (MLA) from BJP, resigned from the party and contesting for UP assembly election from the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Singh’s sudden exit from the party was an outcome of another fellow BJP MLA, Anand Swaroop Shukla getting the ticket at Bairia seat.
Both Singh and Shukla are contesting for Bairia seats from VIP and BJP parties, respectively. The nominations were conducted on Friday with the filling of other 50 papers. Â
Anand Swaroop Shukla currently is the ministry of state for parliamentary Affairs, Rural Development, Overall Village Development in the Uttar Pradesh Government. In March 2021, Shukla called for the banning of Burka in India.Â
Surendra Singh, in May 2021, claimed that the cow urine would protect from the Corona Virus.
In 2018 Singh defended a rape accused, claiming that a mother of three children cannot be raped.
He also bags nine criminal records against him, which are under trial.
Daya Sankar also filled his nomination for the Ballia Sardar seat. In Gazipur, the SBSP (Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party) chief OM Prakash Rajbhar filed papers for the Zahoorabad seat, and the sitting BJP MLA Sunita Singh filed nomination for the Zamania seat.
Prabhu Narayan Singh Yadav and Jitendra Kumar filed for their nomination for Saiyadraja and Chakia seats, respectively, from Samajwadi Party in Chandauli.Â
In the Jaunpur district, Sushil Kumar filed a nomination from the Mariyahu seat from the Janata Dal (United). At the same time, Jitendra Kumar of the Bharat Rastra Democratic party filed papers from Mungra Badshahpur.Â
In Azamgarh, Pradeep, a candidate from the Sarvasamaj Janta party, filed for nomination from the Phoolpur Powai seat. At the same time, Ramakant Jadav from the Samajwadi Party will be contesting against him for the same seat.
The BJP candidate Manoj Jadav filed papers for the Nizamabad seat.Â
Sanjeev Gaud, a candidate from the people’s party of India, filed for nomination from Varanasi’s Rohaniya assembly constituency on Friday. Earlier, Monu Rai from Bahadur Admi Party filed for nomination from Varanasi North Seat on Thursday.Â
In Varanasi, the nomination process will come to a halt due to the gazetted holidays ahead. The nominations will remain close on the 12th of February owing to the second Saturday, 13th of February because of Sunday and on 15th of February for Hazrat Ali’s birthday.
