A joint venture of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) declared on Monday that SES, a global satellite-based content connectivity solutions provider, and Jio Platform Ltd (JPL) formed a JV firm, Jio Space Technology Limited, with a ratio of 51%(JPL) and 49%(SES)Â
To provide unlimited, high-speed, scalable, and affordable broadband service with satellite communication technology in India. And the concept of a new digital India can be accomplished by Jio by connecting all remote places like cities, villages, enterprises, and consumers through satellite broadband services. India is the second-largest online market globally after China, and with more than 560 million internet users, there has been a consistent boost in the accessibility of the internet nationwide. So, it was likely to be expected that the number of internet users would be more than 650 million by 2024. Â
SES – Global Satellite-Based Content Connectivity Solutions Provider
SES will offer up to 100 Gbps capacity and use Jio’s market reach to unlock the market opportunity in India. This JV will also build widespread gateway infrastructure in India to provide services. SES is well known as the world’s chief satellite-based content connectivity solution. It has around 70 satellites in two different orbits from where SES gives its enhanced data and video services across the globe, such as to the US, India, Brazil, Mexico, Kenya, South Africa, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Australia.Â
Jio Satellite Communications Ltd (JSCL) is the base of the latest JPL-SES joint venture because Jio Satellite Communications Ltd (JSCL) had applied to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for a global mobile personal communication by satellite services (GMPCS) license after the Bharti Airtel telecom company entered and battled in the arena of Satcom. The JV with SES will pick up the pace of the growth of multigigabit broadband. Akash Ambani, Director of Jio, confirmed that we would continue to spread out our fiber-based connectivity project and FTTH business and invest in 5G.Â
Align Of ‘Gati Shakti’ Project with Jio Space Technology Limited
The Prime Minister’s “Gati Shakti: The National Master Plan for Infrastructure Development” is to take 16 ministries, including railways and roads, collectively for infrastructure connectivity projects. Jio Space Technology Limited has a tie-up with “Gati Shakti” to provide speed to implement the dream of a new digital India. Â
We have the largest freelancer workforce, and India witnessed an increased rate of freelancers. The digital engagement of people working from home, studying online, or simply streaming video and some other challenges demand unlimited data requirements with high-speed internet. Satellite broadband services are the best solution for that. Â
In January, Airtel also declared its joint venture with Hughes Communications India Pvt. Ltd. (HCIPL) to provide satellite broadband services in India. Hughes will hold a 67% stake in this JV, and Airtel will save a 33% stake by offering an inexpensive and scalable enterprise networking way out using satellite connectivity for primary transport, backup, and hybrid implementation.Â
