From ChatGPT to Photoshop, AI has been the talk of the town. There are multiple theories and speculations towards this form of technology due to its advanced nature. Some believe that AI can be so powerful and dangerous that there might come a time when it overpowers the human race and takes over. AI is indeed a risky spark to ignite. But yet again it has made headlines.

AI Opening Credits
The new television series that premiered this week on Disney+, has received a ton of backlash from its fans online after the use of AI to design and produce the opening credits of the show. The director, Salim Ali confirmed that AI operated by Method Studios did produce the opening credits for the show in an interview with Polygon. The sequence looks like transfiguring watercolour renderings of the show’s major figures, inspired by the show’s plot of shape-shifting. This interesting yet questionable move has caused some stir on the internet. Fans believe that attempts like these are threatening and unfair to graphic designers and animators
View of the Artists.
Jeff Simpson, who worked with the visual development team for the show tweeted, “ I’m devastated, I believe AI to be unethical, dangerous and designed solely to eliminate artists’ careers.” In another tweet; Jon Lam, a storyboard artist, called the move “ salt in the wounds of all Artists and Writers in the WGA strike”. Recent WGA proposals have included protection against AI for writers. The use of Artificial intelligence has been a great matter of discussion over the eight week strike due to its ability to replace human labour therefore causing increased unemployment. The director believes the technology to be a positive development, contradicting the general view point. Salim believes it to be an interesting and explorative medium in terms of artistry.
Opinions of the fans.
There were varied opinions that came to surface from the fans. Most believed it to be unethical and were disappointed in Marvel for this move. Marvel has always taken pride regarding its writer and well obviously the visuals, therefore the use of AI causes speculation amongst the fans regarding the Media Franchise’s future and authenticity. Watchers expressed their views through the following tweets.
Marvel has always been the sweet spot for every superhero fan but such attempts make us question if Marvel is on its way to lose its authenticity or will the media house work on keeping the same intact. Seems like Marvel has a lot in the box for the future but whether its for the better or worse , i believe only time will tell.
