The monsoon season normally begins in the second week of June in Mumbai. The Southwest monsoon, however, is in the midst of resuming its route after Cyclone Biparjoy, according to information released by the IMD last week.
Mumbai experienced significant rainfall early on Saturday because the Southwest Monsoon, which is currently almost a week late, is predicted to arrive today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On June 26–27, the IMD issued a yellow signal for the city, indicating significant rainfall in a few localized places. Following IMD estimates, the BMC declared that Mumbai’s weather forecast had been upgraded to “orange alert,” indicating the potential for severe rain within the next 24 hours.

Rainfall in different places of India
The monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Mumbai by June 24 according to the weather department’s report on Thursday, but no official statement has been made as of yet.The favorable conditions will likely cause the monsoon to approach Raigad, Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar.
Mumbai had a downpour today as a result of a lengthy monsoon delay, severely flooding many areas of the city. Videos that appeared online said that vehicles were stuck in the flooded Andheri subterranean. In reaction to the scenario, the BMC and traffic police issued traffic advisories, and the Andheri subway was closed for vehicle traffic due to waterlogging brought on by the endless rain.
Even though 18 districts received more than 1.5 inches of pre-monsoon precipitation in just 12 hours ending at 8:30 p.m. The Southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Madhya Pradesh during the weekend. The rain-bearing wave is anticipated to enter MP from its eastern side, bordering Chhattisgarh, where the monsoon arrived on Friday, and by June 29 is likely to cover the entire state.
The monsoon winds currently move via Alibag, Solapur, Udgir, Nagpur (in Maharashtra), Mandla, Sonbhadra, Buxar, Siddharthnagar, Pantnagar, Bijnor, Yamunanagar, Una, and Dras, the report claims.
