With a focus on crime and security connected to NFTs, AI, and the Metaverse, Shah will introduce the G20 meeting in Gurugram.
Cybercrimes, particularly cyber frauds, represent a significant danger to the security of individuals all over the world in a quickly developing borderless digital environment.
While admitting the changing nature of cybercrimes, Shah underlined the need of keeping vigilant and proactive in safeguarding people’s security.
In a tweet, Shah said that strong international ties are the key to successfully fending off this menace.
G20 Cybersecurity Conference
The G20 Cybersecurity Conference is a global gathering of leaders and experts focused on strengthening digital defenses and promoting cyber resilience for a safer digital world.
Over 900 delegates from G20 nations, 9 special invitee nations, international organisations, and technology leaders and subject matter experts from India and other countries will attend the two-day conference on July 13–14, 2024.
The G20 summit on cybersecurity will feature intensive brainstorming between G20 nations, nine special invitee nations, and subject matter experts. Home Minister, added.
The conference will highlight international collaboration to combat cybercrime and open the door to safer cyberspace by addressing a variety of cybersecurity issues, he added.
An official statement stated that in addition to launching the nation’s seven top educational institutions’ cyber volunteer squads, Shah would also do so.
The statement went on to say that these specially designated volunteers would work to raise society’s awareness of the importance of the internet, identify and report harmful content, and provide technical support to make the internet a safe place for all.
In addition, Shah will unveil a conference medallion and inaugurate an exhibition.
The conference will conclude on July 14 with a Valedictory Session, which will feature remarks from Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnav.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is coordinating the conference in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), Department of Telecom (DoT), and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Along with Interpol and the UNODC United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore, and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham are among the other partners.
Prioritizing ‘Cyber Safe India’
Strong cybersecurity measures, promoting digital literacy, arming law enforcement, fostering public-private collaborations, and cultivating a culture of online safety and responsible digital citizenship must all be prioritised if we are to secure a Cyber Safe India.
The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that creating a “cyber-safe India” was one of its top goals, under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the home minister.
Recognising the rising significance of cybersecurity in the current digital era, the government seeks to create a strong framework to safeguard the country’s vital information infrastructure and guarantee the security and privacy of its residents online.
The ministry is aggressively striving to adopt strict cybersecurity measures, improve digital literacy, and bolster law enforcement capacities in order to achieve this aim.
By encouraging public-private partnerships and cooperation, they want to create cutting-edge answers and tactics to successfully combat cyber threats.
The meeting is viewed as a chance to establish an international alliance to create a secure cyberspace and give cybersecurity issues top priority.
In light of cutting-edge and nascent technologies like NFT, AI, and Metaverse, the proceedings will centre on cyber security and strategies to combat cybercrime.
Due to its economic and geopolitical ramifications, cybersecurity has emerged as a crucial component of global security-related activities.
According to the statement, the G20 forum’s increased emphasis on cybersecurity can help to ensure the security and integrity of vital information infrastructure and digital public platforms.
The establishment of a framework for information exchange will also benefit from the discussions on cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention during the G20 meeting.
There will be a forum for cutting-edge ideas, information sharing, and networking with visionaries from across the world at the conference, it was said.
