On 31st July Tuesday, In Nuh, near Gurugram, Haryana, the region witnessed violent clashes between two groups. According to the police, the conflict erupted when a group of young men obstructed Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s ‘Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra’ near Khedla Mod in Nuh and initiated stone-pelting at the procession, leading to damage to some police vehicles.
During the religious procession in Nuh, stones were thrown, and cars were set on fire, causing the tragic deaths of two home guards and injuring about a dozen policemen, as reported by the Haryana Police to PTI.
In response to the violence, the Gurugram district administration declared the closure of all schools, colleges, and educational institutes on the following day by District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav. The clash between Hindus and Muslims resulted in the loss of five lives, including two police personnel, and occurred approximately 50 km south of New Delhi, according to statements from police officials to Reuters.
Cause of Nuh Violence?
The triggering event for the violence seems to be linked to the Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, with differing accounts pointing to either an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist or the expected involvement of a cow vigilante named Monu Manesar, previously booked for the murder of two Muslim men in Bhiwani district. The violence took place 10 minutes after the Vishwa hindu parishad procession. At around 2 pm over 200 people started walking from Edward chowk.
