The state of Manipur just ended the second phase for its 2022 elections; prominent candidates such as former three-time Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and ex-deputy CM Gaikhangam Gangmei are included. 
The state of Manipur just ended its second phase of its 2022 Assembly Elections. The voter turnout for the elections was 84.2 per cent.
Senapati district seemed to have the highest voter turnout at 86.55 per cent, while Jiribam had the lowest at 77.64 per cent. Chandel, from the other side, had an 83.1 per cent turnout, Tamenglong had an 82.43 per cent turnout, Thoubal had an 85.47 per cent turnout, and Ukhrul had an 81.9 per cent turnout.Â
The voting commenced from the morning seven o clock across 22 constituencies across six districts of the state went for polls. A total of 92 seats were in the fray for this election.
But out of the 22 candidates, 12 were from BJP, the National People’s Party has 11, Janata Dal (United) has ten, and Naga People’s Front has ten. Women poll workers are manning 223 polling sites.Â
Among these candidates, the most prominent ones are former three-time Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and ex-deputy CM Gaikhangam Gangmei.
It is to be noted that out of all the candidates, 17 had criminal cases pending against them. The votes for Manipur are to be counted alongside the rest of the four States Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab on March 10. Further updates are still awaited.
