Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has sparked significant controversy due to his comments suggesting the need for the eradication of “Sanatana Dharma.”
Udhayanidhi stated that some things which we have to eradicate and can’t be merely oppose. Mosquitoes, dengue fever, malaria, corona, all these are things which cannot be opposed, and have to be eradicate. Sanatanam is also like that.
Sanatan Dharma signifies the belief in an eternal universal order that guides one’s religious and moral obligations within Hinduism. Although this concept aligns with teachings found in Hindu scriptures like the Vedas and Upanishads, the specific phrase “Sanatan Dharma” has evolved over time to describe the enduring and foundational aspects of Hinduism. It emphasizes the faith’s timeless nature, allowing followers to choose their preferred deity and highlighting its transcendent essence beyond temporary belief systems.
Udhayanidhi Stalin slammed for his remark
Stalin expressed his gratitude to the event organizers for choosing the name “Sanatana Abolition Conference” instead of “Anti-Sanatana Conference.” In his statement quoted by ANI, he thanked them for the opportunity to deliver a special address and commended their choice of conference name.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has vehemently denounced DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks advocating for the ‘elimination’ of Sanatan Dharma, which encompasses the fundamental principles of Hinduism.
K. Annamalai, the Tamil Nadu BJP president, has expressed that eradicating “Sanatana Dharma” would necessitate the elimination of temples and essential religious practices followed by people. He emphasized that the term “Sanatana Dharma” predates the emergence of Christian and Islamic religions, signifying an ancient and timeless moral and religious code. Annamalai condemned Udhayanidhi’s recent speech, asserting that it incited religious hatred and suggested an act akin to cultural genocide. He questioned Udhayanidhi’s authority to abolish “Sanatana Dharma.”
Acharya Pramod, a Congress leader, has remarked that there is a trend among political leaders to criticize Hindus. He noted that over the course of a thousand years, there have been attempts to eliminate “Sanatan Dharma,” but none have succeeded in erasing it.
