The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) declared the results of municipal board polls which was held on March 6, 2022. BJP leading the polls with 73 out of 80 civic bodies.
Its seems that BJP cannot be overthrown by its long time opponent Congress which had to face mortifying defeat. The predominant opposition party of the Assam state does not have even a solitary civic body to its name till now.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has tweeted saying that the grand victory of BJP in Assam reflects the trust of all sections of the society mentioning honourable prime minister Narendra Modi. Also briefly bringing up the vision of Sabka Saatj, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas motto.
The chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma crossed the floor to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Congress back in August 2015 when Congress was mostly stagnant in regional parties. Himanta Biswa Sarma is the 15th chief minister of Assam and has run numerous visionary projects with witnessing dynamic growth. Focusing on self reliance and dependence the CM wishes to develop work culture.
Out 977 wards, BJP secured 742 leaving other parties 99. Congress securing undersized number of 71 wards. Chief minister expressed his amusement and said that the victory was massive and beyond his imagination.
The wrecking of Congress was settled with 71 wards in the municipal board polls. The BJP also seems to have gaining majority in other states in assembly elections leaving other parties in stoic stupor.
