Alexey Navalny, a vocal opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin who was imprisoned last year, has called for further anti-war demonstrations across the country on Sunday. According to his supporters and legal experts in the West, he is currently serving a prison sentence of more than two years for what they describe as a fake fraud allegation.
Navalny’s Instagram account posted a statement saying, “Mad maniac Putin will most swiftly be stopped by the people of Russia now if they oppose the war.”
Alexey has been a prominent opponent of President Vladimir Putin’s regime in Russia. Navalny was arrested and imprisoned last year after he returned to Russia after receiving medical treatment in Germany as a result of a nerve agent poisoning during a visit to Siberia in 2020. The Russian government has categorically denied carrying out such an attack.
He and his comrades are now coordinating anti-war demonstrations from within the jail walls.
Additionally, Navalny stated that the reactions of the Russian people to the war “would primarily define Russia’s place in the history of the twenty-first century.”
It has been reported that 13,908 people have been detained at anti-war demonstrations in Russia since the beginning of the invasion, according to protest monitoring group OVD Info.
