Sindhu and Nehwal Have to Exit the Competition
PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal have lost the second-round matches in the women’s competition due to which they have to exit the tournament. The seventh-seeded Sindhu, a 2019 World Champion, lost 14-21, 21-15, and 14-21 to Zhang Yi Man of China in the women’s singles second round. The match’s duration was 55 minutes.

Srikanth and Prannoy Reached the Quarterfinals
Kidambi Srikanth, a silver medalist at the World Championships, made it into the men’s singles quarterfinals. The 29-year-old player defeated China’s Guang Zu Lu 21-16, 21-23, and 21-18 in 67 minutes. He will next face Olympic champion and top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, who beat France’s Toma Junior Popov 21-17, 21-10 in another match.
Later, Prannoy defeated Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu in a tight match and has qualified to go to the men’s singles quarterfinals. The game was like a roller coaster ride where the scores went from 16-20 to 21-19 to 24-22, but it was worth it.
Srikanth took the first game and got a lead in the mid-game. Lu challenged Srikanth in the second game with a higher score, taking the match to a decider. Srikanth got the lead in the third game and quickly closed the match, leaving little for Lu.
Earlier, Srikanth had not been able to play in the India Open because he had been tested positive. It is clear how he came back and stood out to outplay a world number 27 opponent in a breathtaking match that lasted one hour and seven minutes.
Lu also played commendably as he kept fighting for each point and successfully snatched the second game out of Srikanth’s hands and took the game to a decider.
In the deciding match, the Indian quickly regained control and shut the game down with a 3-0 lead over Lu
