President Zelensky addresses the US Congress expressing gratitude to Biden and US involvement
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the United States Congress on Wednesday, 16th March 2022 at 9:00 a.m. He used an online Video link portal to execute the address from the Russian invaded capital of Kyiv. He additionally extended heartfelt gratitude to US President Joe Biden for all the assistance provided to Ukraine.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had notified the committee on Monday of Zelenskyy’s address. Zelenskyy took the floor before US Congress to address the humanitarian damage that had taken place in the country of Ukraine. He brought into light the harm done to the civilian population and infrastructure.
He then asked the audience to remember the incidents of Pearl Harbour and 9/11. He aimed to point out the loss we had suffered in history and how it is being repeated today. Zelenskyy also presented a video of the damage done by Russian troops’ invasion of the country.
Furthermore, he also thanked the US and expressed how he was “Grateful to President Biden”.
He expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the USA to Ukraine against Russia. “Congress remains unwavering in our commitment to supporting Ukraine as they face Putin’s cruel and diabolical aggression, and to passing legislation to cripple and isolate the Russian economy as well as deliver humanitarian, security and economic assistance to Ukraine.” Added Pelosi and Schumer.
Biden had also signed a $13.6 billion contribution to aid Ukraine. In addition to this, the USA had also imposed trade embargoes on Russia intending to cripple their financial sources. The committee offered a standing ovation for Zelenskyy after his speech.
He expressed that Biden’s leadership would be very advantageous to the world. He also urged them to keep continue their constant support to Ukraine during these dire times.
