Qatar World Cup 22: Which nations pledged to amuse soccer fans?
The countdown to the Qatar World Cup 2022 has begun. The showcase tournament’s draw will take place on April 1. The event will last around a month, with the final taking place on Sunday, December 18 at Lusail Stadium. The 32 teams competing will all be hoping to make it through the six rounds leading up to the final match and overtake 2018 champions France as world champions.
Starting November 21 late this year, 32 teams, including the hosts, will compete in Qatar. By Friday’s draw, we’ll know 29 of the 32 countries. The remaining three berths will be determined in June with two intercontinental playoffs and postponed playoffs between Scotland, Ukraine, and Wales, as well as two games to determine the final European berth.
The invasion of Ukraine by Russia prompted the postponement. As a result, Russia has been eliminated from the tournament.
Portugal won a European playoff 2-0 against North Macedonia on Tuesday, securing a place in the world’s most-watched sporting event.
On Tuesday night, the five African nations who will compete in the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup were confirmed after winning two-legged playoffs. CAF will be represented by Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana, and Senegal in the first-ever November/December World Cup.
