As it is known that France has two elections in the present year. The first election is for the election of the President of the Country for the upcoming five years and the latter is for the selection of Parliament. The voting for the first happened on Sunday, April 10, 2022.
Emmanuel Macron, a French banker and politician who was elected as the President of France back in 2017, currently won the first half of the Presidential Election in France.
Emmanuel Macron won with 27.6 % votes against the candidates Marine Le Pen with votes 23.4 %, and Jean-Luc Mélenchon with votes 21.95 %. Polls suggest a much closer runoff.
As in the results, no candidate got 50 % voting in the first round, for the same the second round is to be held on April 24, 2022.
According to the current situation, Emmanuel Macron is all set to be the first French President to win Presidential re-election since Jacques Chirac back in 2002.
Polling conducted by Ifop-Fiducial suggests that Emmanuel Macron is all set to win the second round of the Presidential election in 2022 against Marine Le Pen, with 51 % against 49%. The detailed polling could be looked at In total Twelve candidates were running for the President among which only three candidates were above 10% of the votes.
According to the reports, Macron has gotten high votes as compared to the previous elections in five years. He gained more support during the final hours of the campaign when he addressed the voters, to protect France’s place on the international diplomatic stage in the Ukraine war.
Similarly, the other candidate Le Pen who is second in the race gained more votes as compared to the previous election before five years. She gained votes by campaigning on the living crisis.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon, third in place with votes of 21.95%, campaigned on the living cost and remodeling the presidential system of the country.
With this, all the defeated candidates were called to vote for Macron in the second round. Mélenchon asked his supporters not to vote for Le Pen, whereas Eric Zemmour with 7% votes asked his supporters to vote for Le Pen in the second round of the Presidential election which going to be on April 24, 2022.
The second round is projected to be the replay of the election of 2017 between Macron and Le Pen. But the reports suggest that currently, Macron can easily defeat Le Pen in the election.
Emmanuel Macron, addressed his supporters with “Nothing is decided and the battle we will wage in the upcoming 15 days”, while Le Pen addressed her supporters saying, “It is a choice of society and choice of civilization on April 24, 2022”.
Her support has grown in recent weeks. She is known for immigration restrictions and also for banning Muslim scarves in public spaces. In the recent campaign, she seems to have softened his language. As the Ifop polls suggest, the victory is going to be in the error of the margin.
Macron tried to be on the top and has got peaked in early March, because voters rallied and they supported the president for the attempts in Russia – the Ukraine war, being a failure though. As none other candidates fall in double-digit, all hopes are on to the second round.
