Introduction
11th March 2022, on a Monday night, Mumbai City FC won over the Iraqi football club; the Airforce Club to become the first Indian team to win Asian Championship league at the Fahad International stadium.
The match was not a very smooth ride for either team as both the Iraqi and Indian teams made some mistakes and lost on goals. The first half was in the hands of the Iraqi team with a score of 3-0.
Substitute; Hamadi Ahmad Farhad gave Iraq an upper hand in the second half of the match after the team played a goalless first half. But, taking the lead could also not help Airforce Club at the win.
Lallianzuala Changate took the first goal for team India just before half-hour was marked. Airforce team missed the goal until Ahmad scored it somewhere in the 59 minutes.
The two teams equally got a penalty as well. Team India took one at the 70th minute which was followed by Ali Kadhimi’s foul.
The match finally came to an end with the defender Rahul Bheke taking team India to its win with the last goal at the 75th minute with a header.
Congratulating the team for the big win, the handle of the team wrote “Joy unbridled after that massive W! Here’s how #TheIslanders celebrated their historic win against Air Force Club #AFCvMUM #IslandersInAsia #ACL2022 #AamchiCity”.
This was also re-posted by Indian Player Mandar Rao Desai to celebrate the win, he also wrote “Can’t stop thinking about last night, focused for the next clash against Al Jazira.”
Some other players like Raynier Fernandes, also took to Twitter to congratulate the team. Other than that, fans have flooded Twitter with wishes for the team as they seem to be proud of the team and its win in the match. India’s next match is with UAE on Thursday.
