âPlanned Murder Conspiracyâ of the political leaders has flared up unrest in the state. Police have been summoned to the district to reinstate peace.
The back-to-back murders of two politicians in Palakkad over the weekend has triggered a fresh debate in the state of Kerala. Two political leaders were brutally murdered in a span of 12 hours. It is believed that the murders were planned with evil intentions when Kerala is making its way for a brighter future by standing in unity.
A former district leader and RSS activist, K Sreenivasan, was murdered by a six-member gang who arrived in two-wheelers at his automobile shop on Saturday at Melamuri. It was a retaliation for the killing of SDPI activist Subair in Ellapuly district by a group of men traveling in two cars while he was returning home with his father after offering prayers at the mosque on Friday.
As per the order issued by district magistrate K Manikantan, the gathering of five or more people in public places is banned, and there is a strict restriction against organizing meetings in public areas. The order is effective in the Palakkad district till 20th April. Amid investigations, police face high criticisms, and Special Investigation Teams (SITs) have been formed to probe further.
During the investigation, the police identified three main suspects and their location in the murder of Subair. In the case of Sreenivasan, police identified four out of six suspects who murdered the RSS activists the next day. Police, in their statement, said both murders were pre-planned and are similar to the murders that were committed in Alappuzha previously.
The brutal twin political murders have sparked communal unrest in the state. ADGP Vijay Sakhre, in his media statement, said that strict surveillance is set up in the district to manage a peaceful law and order situation. Furthermore, Sakhre denied any lapse on the part of the police department, as pre-planned murders couldnât be avoided. At least 30 people were booked, and two were arrested for spreading hate on social media platforms for the twin murders.
Condemning the political murders, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the killings were planned to sabotage the peaceful situation in Kerala, especially after the state surpassed the Covid adversities. The government will take firm actions to catch the perpetrator, and no one will be allowed to derail peace in Kerala. Judiciary and police force will protect the unity and humanity in the state.
Palakkad has been put under alert since Saturday, and the government has urged citizens to isolate any communal and diverse forces attempting to create any anguish or unrest in the state. In December 2021, in Alappuzha, two political leaders from SDPI and BJP were murdered within 24 hours.
