IS the USA planning on nuking the moon?
Several documents obtained, shared, and circulated publicly reveal that the USA government had potential plans of blasting the crust of the moon by using nuclear explosives. The US government’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) has over the years been studying and researching several speculative and untypical technologies such as invisibility cloaks and boring a tunnel through the moon by using nuclear explosives. All this is being done and will continue to be done out of the public eye.
Several top-secret documents discovered
However, according to recent reports, on account of clarifications made by the agency, the tests were not being examined to destroy the celestial body but to get through the lunar mantel (topmost surface of the moon), in search of ‘extremely lightweight’ metals below the crust. The revealed documents contain nearly 1,600 pages of notes, contracts, proposals, and reports which disclose that the undercover operation was in the works since 2007 and was largely funded by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
A cylindrical volume of crushed rocks was considered the most appropriate choice for making a tunnel on the moon. The proposal also suggested the use of a thermonuclear shape charge or an explosive lens to shatter the rocks.
Why is the moon being blasted?
The document justifies blasting the Lunar Crust to the potential discovery of ‘ultra-light matter’ in the center of the moon due to the accumulation of negative matter over billions of years. Speculations state that a Swedish research group discovered evidence of the existence of an ultra-dense phase of deuterium in the lunar crust. This phase is believed to be about 100,000 times denser than water and lighter than steel while still possessing the strength and properties of steel. If these speculations turn out to be true, it would be a boon for spaceflight and the various operations related to it. The existence of such material and its decent usage will sensationally lower the energy requirements to accelerate a spacecraft.
Unpublicized space programs
The USA government’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) was probing, investigating, and analyzing the potential probability of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) under an unpublicized program. Over a period of 5 years from 2007-to 2012, a total of USD 22 million were invested in the program.
The agency previously came under the negative limelight after infamous leaked videos of unidentified aircraft moving in a haphazard manner were surfaced by its former director Luis Elizondo. The program was also accused of using taxpayer money to fund studies related to defense and military application of an array of technologies like antigravity, gravitational wave communications, and transferable wormholes. Many reports bring out the impracticality of most of these projects while some others try to trace developments of the proposed projects. Keywords such as ‘impossible’ and ‘imperfect’ are noted to be used several times in these reports. Many authors have also described outlandish technologies such as warp devices and traversable wormholes to be slowly maneuvering science fiction. It is still unclear whether the documents will lead to any long-term investments in these technologies.
According to reports from The Sun, this is not the first instance where the US has considered bombing the moon with nuclear weapons. Documents reveal a project named A119, which was drawn up amid the Cold War by the American space agency; NASA to gain an advantage in the space race.
If the US would have gone ahead with its plans to nuke the moon, it would have resulted in a potential world war.
