The SpiceJet Mumbai-Durgapur flight experienced severe turbulence because of the bad weather conditions in West Bengal, injuring 15 people passengers cabin crew members were severely injured. Boeing aircraft manage to complete the landing safely and the injured members were immediately taken to the nearby hospitals.
Yesterday the SpiceJet Mumbai-Durgapur flight experienced turbulence because of the bad weather, which many passengers and cabin crew members were severely injured. Around 14 to 15 passengers were injured along with a crew member, some of the passengers had severe head injuries and stitches, and a passenger has also complained about spinal injury”.
Somehow Boeing aircraft manage to complete the landing safely and the injured members were immediately taken to the nearby hospitals.
A Durgapur official commented on the situation and said “the aircraft VT-SLH encountered severe turbulence during descending. The aircraft landed safely at Durgapur, however, a few passengers reported injury. Medical assistance was provided on arrival”.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation official said “around 14 to 15 passengers were injured along with a crew member, some of the passengers had severe head injuries and stitches, and a passenger has also complained about spinal injury”.
The flight experienced severe turbulence pilot switched the seat belt sign on because of the bad weather conditions in West Bengal.
However few passengers were injured because of the food trolley, and many debates had been going on that the passengers should’ve been on their respective seats and the trolley shouldn’t have been there when the bad weather condition was announced. The matter is being investigated.
The investigation is still going on. The senior DGCA official said, “the matter is being investigated. We cannot prejudge”.
