After a decision of United States’ Supreme Court was leaked, citizens of the State went ballistic. Â
The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is all set to overturn a decision made in 1973, according to a leaked document. Roe vs Wade was a historical judgment that legalized abortion in the country. The decision came after an internal discussion. Â
In 2018, a law that banned abortion if the ‘probable gestational age of unborn human’ was to be more than 15 weeks and on provisions of medical emergencies or severe fetal abnormality, was decided upon by the Supreme Court. A decision was upheld by the bench in the hearings in December 2021. The judgment was expected in June or July of the following year. Â
A 98-page draft of the court’s decision which isn’t finalized yet was leaked. The first draft includes a notation that on February 10, it was circulated among the justices. The circulation resulted in a majority of 5-4; 5 for overturning the 1973 decision and 4 for legalizing abortion. Justice Alito prepared the opinion of justices in the first draft. Â
American citizens have taken to Twitter to show their disapproval of the draft or what could be the final decision. They say that their rights are being ceased under their noses. Tweets are pouring in that; abortion is illegalized now what is next? Same-Sex marriage? There was a Twitter handler who even tweeted that there is no ‘next’, whatever it is, it is just ‘now’. Â
Speculations about illegalizing same-sex marriage have erupted. All celebrities, musicians and general public are found tweeting that their fundamental rights, constitutional rights are at stake. Â
President Joe Biden has also tweeted on this issue; the draft opinion calls for questioning the fundamental rights. The right to privacy, the right to make personal choices about marriage and followed by the decision to have children or not, and continued by how to raise them. And that all these are fundamental rights of every American. It is a critical part of who the Americans are.
The President spoke to the media personnel. He said that he does not know who is going to vote for it yet but hopes that there are not enough votes to substantiate the overturn of the decision made for the abortion law. Justice Samuel Alito Jr., who formulated the order has a narrow interpretation of what constitutes fundamental rights. Â
The leak of the draft opinion has left many same-sex couples worried about their marriage. The concerns of the couples feels more prescient. As people are more anxious about the judgment there is no room for doubt and if the fear becomes true it is going to hit reality. Â
Experts themselves are in dilemma whether the same-sex marriage is in radar. One group of people say that because the issue of abortion is on table, it acts as a roadmap to illegalizing same-sex marriage. There are contradictory views that about not letting this discussion affect other fundamental rights of citizens and not let the public present it before the court.Â
 Â
The decision is to result in a culmination of the holy war that is ongoing since the 70s, and that the Supreme Court would come against everything that is not straight white Christian fertile marriage with a submissive, economically dependent, and fiscally constrained wife. Â
The first gay couple who got married in the State, Jim Obergefell says that he is scared that the landmark judgment that made gay marriage legalized could be in danger. He said that this was a dark day for the women in the United States of America. Â
Another tweet read that the leaked decision makes it clear that Obergefell and Lawrence’s gay marriage judgment will be overturned. This could result in illegalizing same-sex marriage in 30 states, and homosexuality in 12 states. The topic of discussion is not if but when. Â
With all the misconceptions in place the one who drafted the order, Alito has written that the emphasis on the decision may concern the constitutional right to banish abortion and no other right. No doubts should concern any other right other than abortion, cleared the Justice. Â
The Americans are not happy with the draft and are contemplating the possible outcomes of the decision. Same-sex marriage was made legal in all the 50 states of the country in 2015 by the SCOTUS.  Â
