The finance ministry had called Infosys CEO Salil Parekh to meet with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday to explain the fiascos.Â
The Contract
The website development deal was signed to Infosys in January 2019.
The government paid Infosys 164.5 crore between January 2019 and June 2021 to create the platform.
The government has introduced a new income tax e-filing platform as part of the Integrated E-filing and Centralized Processing Centre 2.0 Project.
The new Infosys income tax e-filing platform was launched in June of this year.
The new Income Tax e-filing system was launched with the goal of providing taxpayers with a “modern, seamless experience.”Â
The Glitch
 For several weeks, taxpayers have been grumbling about the portal’s difficulties People have taken to social media to vent their displeasure with the flaws and to criticize Infosys.
According to a tweet from the IRS, the gateway has been unavailable since Saturday.
After roughly two days of being inaccessible, Infosys announced late Sunday that emergency maintenance on the website had been completed and that it was now operational.
Previously, Parliament was informed that Infosys had acknowledged the technical concerns and that some of the initial issues, such as sluggish site performance and the lack of availability of some services, had been addressed.Â
Parekh Summoned
The income tax department took to Twitter to summon Sahil Parekh, MD CEO of Infosys, to meet with the honourable Finance Minister and explain the underlying concerns, as well as provide a full knowledge of why the issues had not yet been resolved.
Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, claimed she questioned about the problems on a regular basis and was told that they would be resolved.
The site, however, continues to have problems and errors.
There hasn’t been much change. In a written statement, Union minister of state for finance, Pankaj Chaudhary said the I-T department was taking corrective actions through Infosys based on feedback from stakeholders.Â

On June 22, the Finance Ministry convened a meeting with Infosys officials to review the new income tax portal’s flaws and solicit suggestions from foreign shareholders on how to remedy them.
At the conference, representatives from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) discussed the problems that taxpayers and tax experts have with the portal.
FM Sitharaman indicated earlier this week that the faults should be rectified in two to three weeks.Â
