Under the Agnipath scheme, unveiled by Rajnath Singh. now, Agniveer will get 10% quota in the Indian Coast Guard & DPSU.
On Saturday Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the government has decided to ensure a 10% quota for Agniveers who will be recruited under the Agnipath scheme for four years of service in the armed forces. It will help the Agniveers to get jobs after completion of tenure if they meet the required criteria for employment. Even after thousands of angry defence aspirants protested against the scheme after ignoring the appeal to calmly continue their protest and put their point of view and demands in front of the government.
“The 10% reservation will be implemented in the Indian Coast Guard and defence civilian posts, and all the 16 defence public sector undertakings. This reservation would be in addition to existing reservation for ex-servicemen,” the minister said. The decision was taken after a meeting called by Rajnath Singh with three service chiefs of the armed forces.
The Agnipath scheme is ensuring the low age profile of armed forces, and a fitter and better military. It was unveiled by Defence minister Rajnath Singh and three service chiefs on 14 June via a press conference. Agnipath replaced the previous recruiting system with aim of creating a fitter military.

Necessary amendments to relevant recruitment rules will be undertaken to implement the 10% reservation, Singh said. “Defence public sector undertakings will be asked to make similar amendments to their respective recruitment rules. Necessary age relaxation provision will also be made,” he added.

The 16 DPSUs are Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Earth Movers Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, Goa Shipyard Limited, Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited, Advanced Weapons & Equipment India Ltd, Munitions India Limited, Yantra India Limited, Gliders India Limited, India Optel Limited and Troop Comforts Limited.
Service Chief’s Message to Defence Aspirants about Agnipath
Former Northern Army commander Lieutenant General DS Hooda (retd) said, “It’s a good step. It will clear some of the concerns about the future employment of Agniveers.”
On Friday, The three service chiefs pointed out the most important benefit of the scheme, it will provide every youth with the opportunity to serve the nation, and the military will give them all the skills they need and civilian jobs after the completion of tenure.
Army chief General Manoj Pande also added that youngsters haven’t understood the whole concept of Agnipath otherwise they would have seen the benefits it will provide to them as well as the armed forces.
IAF chiefs asked for peaceful protests from aspirants through ANI. He said if anyone has any doubts they can go to the nearby military stations, Air force bases, and Naval bases around their localization to clarify their doubt in a peaceful manner.
