Amid the Maharashtra political crisis, Deepak Kesarkar, who is a rebel Maharashtra MLA, has claimed that around 50 MLAs are supporting them, and the number will keep on rising. They will come up with a decision in the next three or four days, and following that, they will directly return to Maharashtra.Â
Kesarkar addressed the media after Shinde assumed his position as chief minister at Mantralaya.
“We will travel to meet with him (Thackeray)… However, we are now allied with the BJP, and we are a family. Now, we are not alone in our desire to return to this family (of the Thackeray faction). When we are summoned, they must also speak with the BJP,” he added.
There are currently 55 Sena MLAs in the renegade faction, which includes more than 40 of them. Yesterday afternoon, Uday Samant became the ninth Maharashtra minister to join the rebel side.Â
To split the party in the assembly without invoking the disqualification regulations, the rebels assert that they have a two-thirds majority. The Deputy Speaker has issued disqualification notices to 16 MLAs representing the Thackeray faction.
Sources reveal that about 20 MLAs supporting Eknath Shinde are in direct contact with CM Uddhav Thackeray. Numerous of them fail to agree with Ekanth’s proposal to rule Maharashtra MLA in union with the BJP.
