Former Liverpool and Manchester City winger to join Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer for 45 million pounds plus add-ons.
After negotiating for a month, Chelsea and Manchester City finally agreed to the transfer of the English winger Raheem Sterling. According to the king of transfers, Fabrizio Romano Raheem Sterling signed a 5-year-deal with Chelsea which will keep him at the London club till the end of the 2027 season.
The head coach of the blues, Tuchel played a major role in persuading this deal. He had more than direct contact with the former City winger. The club has been in contact with Sterling before the Champions League final, and the coach has already explained the project and the winger’s role in the club. Chelsea are set to officially announce the signing of four times Premier League winner once he completes medical formalities, which are scheduled in London this week.
Raheem Sterling, playing for City under Guardiola, has 131 goals and 94 assists in 337 games. He is the third-highest goalscorer under Guardiola, after Aguero and Lionel Messi. During his time at City, Sterling managed to grab his hands on the number of silverwares which includes four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, five Carabao Cups and two FA Community Shields
Former City and Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling, who is also a regular feature for his national team, will fit well for Tuchel’s tactics. Chelsea signed Raheem Sterling following the departure of their giant Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan. Apart from Lukaku’s loan to inter, even the dip in form of attacking players like Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakimi Ziyech triggered the North-London club to pen this deal.
Sterling may not have the same physical presence as Lukaku to play in the number 9 position, but stats speak in favour of Sterling as he has been a proven player and goalscorer for Manchester City. It’s safe to presume that Chelsea’s 45 million pounds signing will resolve the attacking woes in the final third and the 18-yard box.
