Adani group recently received the National Long Distance License and the International Long Distance Licenses. Adani is the 4th applicant with the other three Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone. They have also set up a subsidiary in recent Months.
The Billionaire Gautam Adani’s Group this Saturday confirmed that they are planning to participate in the upcoming 5g spectrum auctions which are happening on 26th July.
They surprised everybody and are up to pitch against some of the top companies like Mukesh Ambani’s Jio and Sunil Bharti Mittal’s Airtel.
The group had recently obtained the National Long Distance License and The International Long Distance License as well. However, the Company made it very clear that they do not have any intention to enter the consumer mobility space.
Further added, they said that they are participating in the 5G auction to provide a private network and enhanced cyber security at the airports, docks, power generation, and various other manufacturing operations.
Adani Group aims to use the 5G network for the data centers as well as the super apps they are trying to build for the businesses for electricity distribution to airports and gas retailing to ports.
ALL SET TO START THE AUCTIONÂ – ADANI
The Mega auction is on 26 July and the government is putting 72000hz of mobile frequencies up for sale. The auction will be held for various low frequencies and high ones too. The Mega Auction will have a value of around 4.3 lakh crore.
In the 5G spectrum, nine frequency bands will be up for auction to telecom operators. Tech firms will also be allowed to take the 5G spectrum for their own non-public network on lease from the telecom companies.
Last month, the union cabinet agreed on the auction at reserve prices which were recommended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
They had recommended about a 40 percent cut in the floor prices for the sale of the 5G spectrum. The validity of the right to use the 5G spectrum will be 20 years.
The Bid Document also stated that the direct allocation of spectrum to tech companies will follow a demand study. They will also take TRAIs recommendations on the aspects such as the prices and the modalities of such allocations.
As said, the decision on private networks is seen as a bad decision for telecom companies, which was a big argument that the independent entities will be allowed to set up private captive networks with direct 5G spectrum allotment by the telecom departments.
If we look at the business aspect of the telecom service providers they can get severely degraded with the 5G spectrum.
