Axar Patel’s sublime inning of 64 off 35, which included three fours and five sixes, helped India cross the line in a high-scoring game. India chased the score in 49.4 overs with two balls to spare
Batting first, West Indies scored 311 with the loss of 6 wickets. Shai Hope and the West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran added brilliant scores of 115 off 135 and 74 off 77 respectively.
In response, India was three wickets down at the score of 79. However, the 99-run partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson gave India a solid stand. Shreyas Iyer contributed 63 off 71, whereas Sanju Samson added 54 off 51 to India’s scoreboard. Although, it was Axar Patel who stole the show with his match-winning performance in a thrilling run chase. Axar Patel also got the man of the match for his brilliant 64 runs and one wicket.Â
India has already beaten the hosts in the opening encounter on 22 July at the same venue of port Spain, Trinidad. Now, after the second ODI in their bag, the visitors have already won the 3-match series.Â
Men in blue will play their 3rd ODI against the west indies on July 27. With the series already in the bag, team India will be looking forward to sealing the series with a clean sweep. However, Carrabians would play for their pride. They would want to win the final match on their home soil.
