German club RB Leipzig has struck a deal with Austrian club RB Salzburg to sign striker Benjamin Šeško on a permanent transfer valid from next summer to June 2028. Šeško 19, had scored 12 goals in 39 matches for Salzburg and his hot form made speculations that he will join Manchester United this summer.
The deal was done as it was confirmed by the top transfer reporter that Salzburg has no intentions to let go of Šeško this summer and the player is also happy to stay at the club for one more year. The only option was to sign the striker from next year. Leipzig has thus signed a deal for 5 years.
Benjamin Šeško signed for RB Salzburg from Domžale in 2019 aged 16 and was loaned to the Salzburg reserve team FC Liefering for 2 seasons in which he scored 22 goals during his stint of 44 games. He became the youngest ever Slovenia goalscorer in October 2021.

What Benjamin Šeško said about his move to Leipzig
“I have read and heard so much about me in recent weeks, and a lot of it had no basis in reality”.
“In order to end the speculation and fully concentrate on my tasks here at FC Red Bull Salzburg, it was important for me to arrange the next steps in my career already. I wanted to gain clarity as soon as possible on the way ahead”.
“Absolutely nothing has changed for me personally otherwise, and I will still give everything for FC Red Bull Salzburg as we have a lot of plans this season.”
Manchester United fail to sign another player
Erik Ten Hag’s Man Utd suffered another huge setback after Benjamin Šeško signed for RB Leipzig. Erik Ten Hag wanted Šeško at Old Trafford this summer but the club once again failed to land a player successfully this window.
The club is still chasing Barcelona’s midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, for more than 3 months now and have already failed to sign Serie A forward Marko Arnautović after the Bologna president said they are not going to sell the player. Man Utd is looking forward to signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
