Recently The US House of Representatives agreed to purchase S-400 Missiles for India. Under CAATSA(Countering America’s Advisories Through Sanction Act) a Congressman and all the representatives agreed to the proposal a few weeks ago.
Today reports are saying that Joe Biden wants to accelerate the Indian sanctions waiver over Russian Missile Deal. This deal must accelerate because Biden has the “Political Mileage” he wants to develop the relationship with Quad countries for the benefit of their country.
CAATSA is a very powerful act where the US can put sanctions on any country. So Indian – American Congressman Ro Khanna, urged Joe Biden’s administration to use their authority to approve the Indian-Specified S-400 Missile and to deter bordering countries like China. Considering the amendment US House of Representatives approved it in July and agreed to purchase S-400 Missiles from Russia.
American Democratic Congressman said that this deal of S-400 missiles by the US House of Representatives is the most resultant vote made since the civilian nuclear deal. In an interview, Mr Khanna said to PTI that “the relationship between US and India had never been more censorious. But now in the 21st century, we look at expanding China and Russia. This is going to be a defending relationship. This is to be clear and I want to send a letter to India that America considers and values this relationship as very important”.
The past reports said if the US agreed to the deal by approving the purchase of the S-400 missile it means India can escape from these severe Sanctions for its deal with Russia. This app program is given through CAATSA for National Security reasons.
Last Month a legislative amendment was passed by a bitter vote during floor consideration of the National Defense Authorisation Act(NDAA). This legislative amendment needs to be passed through the US senate before approval and before it can be sent to president Joe Biden.
A democratic said building relationships with other countries is very important due to the many threats of sanctions hanging over India. It also undermines the ability to strengthen the Quad relationship with Australia and Japan.
Mr Khanna also mentioned 3 Weeks ago,” The United States must stand with India in facing problems with aggressive country China. As Vice Chair of the Indian Caucus, I have been working to strengthen the partnership between countries and ensure that India can defend itself along the Indian Chinese border”. He also mentioned he was feeling very precious that this amendment is almost important and passed to the hottest on a bipartisan basis.
What is CAATSA ?
CAATSA manes Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. It is a federal law of the United States that it can impose sanctions on any country when the countries need to purchase arms from particular countries. It imposed sanctions on Iran, North Korea, and Russia.
It was formed on August 2, 2017, this law is signed by the president of Us and this is under public law(115-44). This law entails economic and financial penalties on any country when they transact with Russian arms.
