On Tuesday 16th September, Apple globally launched its iPhone 13 series. The range includes four variants: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 pro max.
The celebrated smartphones will be available in India for sale starting from 24th September of this year.
Apple Where it was announced; and what’s new
Apple announced the series at its highly anticipated ‘California Streaming’ virtual event that a worldwide audience could access.
The four smartphones do not have a significant size difference. Still, alterations and up-gradation were done regarding their battery life, revamped cameras, an audio-video mode that provides cinematic experience, and narrower incisions across the lineup.
On the whole, the design of the new series does not significantly differ from its predecessors. But it is all powered by the brand new A15 Bionic SoC, and iOS 15 gives the four phones a new and improved edge.
Detailed specifications
The A15 Bionic SoC, which powers the latest series, has a total of six-core CPUs, among which two deal with high performance and four work for efficient cores with an addition of a sixteen-core Neural engine.
The brand expects the smartphones to operate 50% better than those of the other leading competitors.
The differences between the devices are that while iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have the A15 Bionic with a four-core GPU, the other two — iPhone 13 pro and iPhone 13 pro max — have a five-core integrated GPU.
In these brand new models, the notch has been reduced to increase the screen space by 20 percent. In all the phones, the feature of brightness has been polished and revamped.
However, it is only the pro models that get Apple’s ProMotion 120 Hz refresh rate feature. The scales in these Pro models can be changed from 10Hz to 120Hz and thereby alter their refresh rate effectively based on the user’s input.
The user can change the refresh rate by swipe speed to experience a more reactive and conserving power system. During the day, the brightness can be adjusted from 800 nits to 1000 nits, respectively, for iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro models.
The peak HDR brightness is equal for all four and stands at 1200 nits. The devices also support Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG.
The cameras on all the phones are exceptionally well built. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have new wide-angle cameras to capture less noise and more light for brighter pictures.
The iPhone 13 Pro models, on the other hand, have a further 77 mm telephoto camera with a 3x optical zooming feature as well as wide-angle cameras.
The night mode feature works faster and captures sharper shots. The new cinematic video mode can capture moving objects as well.
According to Apple, they got the inspiration for these cameras from actual directors of photography and incorporated their observations into these models.
Lastly, the new series features 5G with custom-made antennas and radio support and comes in four color options: graphite, gold, silver, and brand new sierra blue.
Different prices in different places
In India, the price of the Iphone13 series starts from Rs.69,900.
The iPhone 13 model with 128GB storage comes at Rs.79,000, and the Pro and Pro max have the price tag of Rs.1,19,900 and Rs.1,29,000, respectively.
However, the price of a Pro max model in the USA is about Rs.40,000 lower than what it costs in India because of its low tax rate.
