Today we have advanced ourselves and with time we have boosted our defense system and have all necessary equipment to encounter all situations.
Until now the forces used the British guns for the ceremony of salute, for the first time India will display its first made in India guns along with the British guns. Indigenous howitzer will be deployed for the 21 gun salute for the occasion , the announcement was made by defense secretary Ajay Kumar.Â
The howitzer is a prototype of the advanced towed artillery gun system (ATAGS) has been designed and developed under the government’s Make in India to strengthen the defense manufacturing sector. This will be one of the most important highlight of the event as it will be reflecting our capacity , competence and potential in the field of arms and ammunition .
Also this will send a strong message to the global powers that India is walking on the path of self sufficiency and is emerging as a strong nation.  Â
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) began the ATAGS project in 2013 to replace the older army guns with modern 155mm artillery guns. It partnered with two private firms, Bharat Forge Limited and Tata Advanced Systems Limited, for manufacturing the gun, which has a firing range of 48 km; more details will be tweaked on the day.
The defense ministry has invited NCC cadets from all the districts to encounter the marvels to be shown by the forces. The ministry has also added that the cadets will be dressed in their local dresses enchanting their traditional and cultural attires.    Â
This year the government has made sure that no section of the society is left behind and wants to place great emphasis on “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” for the same they have given invites to masses like anganwadi workers, street workers , mudra borrowers etc.
This year the government is trying to make the event as inclusive as possible , all eyes are on the agendas the government will put forth this year as upcoming elections will lay foundation of it.
