Russia Ukraine: Military advances made by Ukraine compelled Russians to pull back their troops from the town of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.
Major General Konashenkov, the spokesman for the Defense Ministry of Russia, in the first public statement regarding Kharkiv announced that the country will withdraw its forces from key cities like Izium and Balakliia in the Russia Ukraine war.
He further added that to achieve the goal of liberating Donbas, set by the special military operation, the decision has been taken to regroup the troops stationed in the district of the concerned cities.
The ministry even confirmed that it will pull back the forces from a third key town, Balaklava to ‘bolster efforts’ on the Donetsk front.
“A three-day operation was carried out on the drawdown and organised transfer of the Izyum-Balakliya group of troops to the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the Russian statement
“In order to prevent damage to the Russian troops, a powerful fire defeat was inflicted on the enemy.”
What resulted in this pullback is the counter-attack of the Ukrainian army on these regions that have been held by Russia for several months
Russia Ukraine’s perspective on the event.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have said that they have entered the town of Kupiansk in Kharkiv, resulting in the fall of the Russian frontline, forcing the troops back.
These military advances will be utilised by the Ukrainian army as a sign to take back the territory while it still asks for military support
The forces have also published images on their social media showcasing their officers in Kupiansk, the town that “was and always will be Ukrainian”.
The officials for the Ukrainian forces state that they have freed some 30 towns and villages in the northeast region of Kharkiv. In the past few days, the forces of the country have seen pushing themselves deeper into the eastern region of the country.
The liberation of Kupiansk by the Ukrainian forces would cause a serious problem for Moscow as this town hubs major supply routes for Russia from the east.
If these Ukrainian gains are secured, it would mark a major setback for the Russian troops as the region was invaded within a few days of the war.
