An Indian family of 4, including a baby, were found dead near the Canada-US border. It is suspected that they were trying to escape the frame.Â
A heartbreaking incident occurred near the Canada-US border where A family of four, including a teenager and a baby, were frozen to death. As per the authorities, the family was trying to escape; however, they couldn’t survive the freezing snowstorm and succumbed to it.Â
The investigators believe that the family was a part of a smuggling operation and decided to escape from the fear of being caught because they unraveled the process on Wednesday. After the procedure was cracked, the US law enforcement arrested Steve Shand, who belonged to Florida and tried to escape the border.
The personnel also came across Indians who were a part of the smuggling operation and tried to go to the US by crossing the border. The External Affairs minister, S Jaishankar, was shocked after hearing about the incident. He has requested US and Canada ambassadors to look into the situation and respond urgently. Â
How was the family found?Â
Once the Manitoba Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) learned that a family was stuck in Manitoba, the officials immediately searched for them. Just 10 meters away from the borders, the officials found the bodies of a man, woman and a baby. A body of a teen boy was also found at some distance. Â
In the news conference, Assistant commissioner of RCMP, Jane Maclathy, said that all four were wearing winter attires. However, the snowstorm was cold, and their clothes weren’t sufficient to protect them. She further said, “These victims faced not only the cold weather but also endless fields, large snowdrifts and complete darkness.”Â
Ajay Bisaria, the Indian ambassador to Canada, said that they are in touch with Canadian authorities, and their team is travelling to the spot to work on the situation.
