Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra made a bold predicts on Monday, predicting that the most expensive Indian bowler in the upcoming mega auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League will not be Harshal Patel or Shardul Thakur, but a bright 29-year-old star (IPL).
Highlights:-
- Harshal Patel, the Purple Cap winner for the 2021 season, and Shardul Thakur were not the bowlers.
- Deepak chahar is a one-of-a-kind powerplay bowler who can provide early wickets and has also demonstrated the potential to bat.
Harshal won the Purple Cap award for the 2021 season after taking a league-high 32 wickets for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Shardul, on the other hand, had honed his ability to pick wickets when his team, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), or Team India, needed it the most and has recently demonstrated his talent with the bat, scoring two half-centuries in a series against South Africa earlier this month.
Aakash chopra predicts Harshal will not be that expensive. He did not put Shardul in his top-five most expensive Indian bowlers, which featured Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Rahul Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Deepak Chahar at the top.
Aakash Chopra predicts
“First and foremost, he gets wickets with the new ball. This type of Indian does not exist. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi are just a few names that come to mind.
Despite choosing 32 wickets to win the Purple Cap last season, I didn’t pick Harshal Patel. But I don’t think he’ll be that expensive,”
he added on his YouTube account.
Deepak, according to Aakash chopra predicts, is a one-of-a-kind powerplay bowler who can provide early wickets and has demonstrated the potential to bat as well, as evidenced by his performance in the South Africa ODI series.
At the upcoming auction on February 12 and 13, Aakash predicts that every club will be bidding on this bowler.
“In the first three overs, Deepak is your bank.” He can step in and help you get some early wickets in the powerplay. It doesn’t get any better than that.
He can shatter the opponent’s back. He’s okay in death overs, but not exceptional. But it’s possible. CSK, I believe, will strive to reclaim him. Ahmedabad and Lucknow will also give it their best go.
Every team in the league will seek to sign him. “And he’s also started hitting,” he added.
Chahar debuted in the Indian Premier League in 2016 for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants before joining CSK in 2018.
The franchise, however, had dropped the pacer before the 2022 auction, with MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad remaining.
