As reports of singer Udit Narayan having a heart attack gained popularity on social media, he was the target of a death hoax.
Mumbai, 6th October: Fake death announcements are not a new phenomenon. Many celebrities have awoken to the news of their own demise spreading on social media! Udit Narayan, the musician, is the latest celebrity to fall prey to the death fake.
Narayan, who has been in Bollywood for 42 years, trended on media for the wrong reasons after news of his heart arrest went viral. According to certain media sites, the legendary singer was hospitalized after suffering a huge heart attack. However, the singer’s manager debunked the rumors and claimed that Narayan was in good health.
In response to the news, Narayan’s manager stated that the singer was OK and had no heart attack. He also mentioned how unhappy the singer was with the information. “I’m not sure where this news is coming from all of a sudden. There are constant phone calls. The manager was quoted in a news publication as saying, “He was quite upset.” The manager also disclosed that Nepal is the likely origin of the rumors, given that the code number of the adjacent nation appears on the phone number from which the message was sent.
The musician reportedly is thinking of taking stringent action against the bogus news outlet.
Since the 1980s, Narayan has been involved in Bollywood. He contributed his sweet voice to numerous classic hits, like “Main Yahaan Hoon” (Veer Zaara), “Bin Tere Sanam” (Yaara Dildara), and others.
Amitabh Bachchan and Paresh Rawal are just two superstars who have fallen victim to the death hoax. In May 2021, information that Rawal had died from Covid-19 broke on the Internet. The seasoned actor, however, choose to react to the news with his signature wit. He posted something on Twitter, “I apologize for the miscommunication as I slept till 7 a.m.)…!”
