Punjab’s CM designate Bhagwant Mann is all set to take his oath as Chief Minister today after winning the elections on March 10.
Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, both his children Seerat Kaur Mann (21) and Dilshan Mann (17) have flown from the United States and are scheduled to attend the event at Khatkar Kalan on Wednesday.
In her first comments after Mann’s and AAP’s massive victory in the Punjab assembly polls, Inderpreet Kaur, Mann’s ex-wife said that both of their children have reached India and they will attend Mann’s swearing-in ceremony. She said that the children are very overwhelmed and ecstatic about the event.
Bhagwant Mann’s election as Punjab Chief Minister elicited a ‘very positive’ response from Inderpreet. She went on to say that he had always been and would continue to be in her prayers.
Bhagwant Mann and Inderpreet Kaur separated from each other back in 2015, and the couple’s children moved to the United States with their mother, whereas Mann remained to continue and campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.
Inderpreet used to be the biggest supporter of Mann’s Lok Sabha campaign elections in 2014, and she even campaigned for him in Sangrur villages, where Mann was elected as an AAP MP for the first time. The couple did, however, file for divorce in 2015.
Mann’s mother Harpal Kaur and sister Manpreet Kaur were frequently spotted expressing their joy and feelings for Mann’s accomplishment in recent days during Punjab polls, such as when he was declared as AAP’s CM candidate and, very recently, when he steered AAP to a stunning victory in Punjab on March 10.
Mann, on the other hand, has frequently stated in interviews that, although the entire Punjab is now his family, he still feels heavy in the heart when he arrives home from work to find his home vacant.
He also showed his affection for his children on social media, wishing them happy birthdays and saying that he misses them. At the time of his divorce proceedings, Mann had said that he chose his ‘Punjab family over his own family.
