The Delhi Capitals finally delivered the type of performance they had wanted for all season after a long wait. Â
Their victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad was built on a great batting performance, which helped them climb to fifth place in the IPL 2022 points table. Â
The threat that Delhi had previously displayed on paper was emphasised by a 122-run partnership of 66 balls between David Warner and Rovman Powell.Â
Rishabh pant Praised Anrich Nortje & Mitchell Marsh’sÂ
At the post-match presentation, Rishabh Pant remarked, “I think there’s always room for development, but this is as close to a perfect performance as a batting group, definitely.” He’d again again failed to convert a start, settling to a full toss after reaching 26 yards. However, DC took a lot of positives from the encounter, particularly Anrich Nortje’s and Mitchell Marsh’s useful ball returns.Â
 Destructive warner Â
One of the biggest pluses was that they were able to put on a solid batting performance and finally have a top-order batter grab a huge score. Â
David Warner’s 92 against his previous squad required “no extra motivation” under great strokeplay conditions, according to the batter. Rovman Powell’s powerhitting, though, surprised even him.Â
“It was difficult here in Mumbai because of the humidity, and I was growing older and more cooked. Â
And having Rovman on the other end…got he’s some big power to clear the fences, so it was tremendous striking, and I’m pleased he was there “Warner deflected the compliments to his partner.Â
Great batsman warnerÂ
“I was catching up at the end, but it was foolish of me to try to run fast. He hits them hard and they go a long way, man “Warner screamed. “Even Livo [Liam Livingstone] – 117m – these guys are clearing fences like they’re nothing. I’m getting older, and I need to get back into shape.Â
I’m just hitting 85 metres and need to hit one hundred metres at some point “After egging on Powell, Warner was left not out on 92. Powell took 19 off the penultimate over bowled by the pacy Umran Malik, but he did not get a chance at the century. Three fours and a six were hit.Â
Powell the starÂ
It’s just sometimes you plan for a particular ball – the slower balls and yorkers. Because the wicket is so good you can hit through the line when you see the fast ball. So it was just planning for the yorker and slower ball and those kinds of stuff,” said Powell.Â
Pant DC captainÂ
“Rishabh and I had a talk. He came into my room and asked where I wanted to bat. “Just believe me,” I tell him, “and I’ll bat fifth.” My ability to play spin has improved over the last year or so, and I’m now much better at batting spin. I can also hit the ball hard. So at No. 5, I just tell him to believe me. Allow me to bat first and use my discretion in the first 15-20 balls. Then I’ll attempt to get as much as I can out of the last 20 balls.” Powell made a point during halftime..Â
“That’s how it works; prior to joining the IPL, I was in great shape and had put in a lot of effort. The start of the IPL was a little challenging for me.” “I just kept believing in myself,” he said after the game, “and I spoke with Rishabh and explained everything to him.” “It was disheartening to bat ninth in that game, but that is how the game is played. You must succeed in whatever position you are in. They devised a strategy and a solution, and I am currently in charge.”Â
speaking with Rishabh Pant, he was pushed up to No. 5 in the line-up, which also helped him.
