Amazon Echo’s Alexa Gets Amitabh Bachchan’s Voice In India

Amazon has launched India’s first celebrity voice feature on Alexa, featuring the country’s biggest movie actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Everything comes with a price, and this feature is no exception.

Customers will have to pay an introductory payment of Rs 149 per year to unlock the feature on their Echo devices.

Amitabh Bachchan’s voice, India’s first celebrity voice, will be accessible on Amazon starting today.

In late 2020, Amazon released superstar Samuel L Jackson of Pulp Fiction fame as Alexa’s voice in the US and other Western nations.

Now it’s bringing Amitabh Bachchan’s legendary deep baritone voice to smart speakers.

Even though there is no direct pre-recording, the business claims it uses neural speech technology to make Alexa sound like Bachchan.

Last year, the firm revealed its relationship with the Bollywood legend.

However, Amazon’s engineering teams were compelled to operate remotely on this project due to the pandemic.

There were also a few other issues to deal with.

Alexa may be triggered by a single word wake alert anywhere in the world.

Do this, for example, Alexa. In the instance of Bachchan, though, Amazon has implemented a two-word wake-up technique for Alexa. “Amit ji,” as a token of respect to the legendary actor.

Amazon Indian Country leader Puneesh Kumar said that it was a labour of love to create the Amitabh Bachchan celebrity voice.

They had to invent and re-invent practically every aspect of speech science to bring the world’s first bi-lingual celebrity voice to life.

India is a crucial international market for Amazon, which has invested more than $6.5 billion and is progressively investing in startups.

This isn’t the first time Bachchan has signed up for their ventures. Last year, Amazon purchased the film rights to Amitabh Bachchan’s “Gulabo Sitabo” for global streaming on Prime Video.

The majority of Indians aspire to meet superstar Amitabh Bachchan at least once in their lives.

But, even if you never get the chance to meet him, you can now communicate with him via Alexa-enabled devices.

The 78-year-old actor shares personal stories, poems from his father, tongue twisters, and inspiring messages with Amazon.

Customers may also ask Alexa to play music, set alarms, obtain weather updates, and answer questions in Bachchan’s trademark way.

Customers can also request music, set alarms, and receive weather updates in Bachchan’s signature style, in addition to this unique and amusing material.

To hear some entertaining behind-the-scenes information, simply ask “Amit ji, play songs from Kabhi Kabhi” or “Amitji, Sholay ke gaane bajaiye” or simply say “Amit ji, tell us a hilarious storey.”

Users can also ask questions like “Amit ji, koi kavita sunaiye” or “Amit ji, recite Madhushala.”

It’s interesting to note that the feature is only available in the Android app.

Users can now ask Amazon Echo devices to recite birthday greetings to them by saying, “Amit Ji, it’s my birthday.

To add Amitabh Bachchan’s voice to Echo devices, follow these steps:

Step 1: Approach the Echo smart speaker and say, “Alexa, introduce me to Amitabh Bachchan,” then follow the prompts.

Step 2: Verify your order.

Step 3: On Echo devices, say “Alexa, enable Amit ji wake word” to enable this capability.

On Android phones and tablets,

Step 1: Open your Amazon shopping app (Android only), go to the settings tab, and enable the “Amit ji” wake phrase.
