On Friday, Indian Consumer Goods Dabur informed the resignation of Amit Burman from the Chairman post of the company. The resignation will be in effect after the closing hours of August 10th, 2022.

Major Homegrown company Dabur hit with the resignation of the Chairman on the Friday of August 12th. Amit Burman, the now ex-chairman, will continue to be the non-executive director of the company.
“We wish to inform you that the Board of Directors has on 11th August 2022, approved the following changes in the position of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the company. Acceptance of resignation of Mr. Amit Burman from the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company with effect from the close of working hours of August 10, 2022,” announced the Dabur board in an exchange filing.
Meanwhile, Mohit Burman will be appointed as the next non-executive Chairman of the company. He is currently working in the role of Vice Chairman of the non-executive Board. He is to begin his tenure on August 11th, 2022 for the next 5 years.
Mohit Burman, the new non-executive Chairman, said these are “unprecedented times for economies” as they are facing one challenge after another.
“The world was hit by a consequential crisis of inflation, which was further aggravated by the Russia-Ukraine War and other geopolitical events” added the new chairman.
Dabur India and Amit Burman
Dr. S. K. Burman on his mission to make health care products in Calcutta, founded the Dabur company in 1884. Coming a long way from a small company it became a full-fledged company – Dabur India (Dr. S. K. Burman) Pvt. Ltd in 1936. The company became public limited in 1986.
Amit Burman became the CEO of Dabur Foods in 1999 and stepped down in 2007. The company merged into Dabur India Ltd by July 2007. Burman became the Vice Chairman of Dabur India Ltd before becoming the Chairman of the company in 2019.
Starting from Ayurvedic medicines the company expanded further to a wide variety of health care products. The chairmen all along played a major part in the overall development of the firm.
