During his visit to Kerala on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a meeting with Archbishop Andrews Thazhath, a senior bishop of the Catholic church, along with a few other priests. He met the bishop and other priests at a hotel close to Cochin International Airport while on a brief visit to Kochi to participate in the silver jubilee festivities of a private hospital in the city.

Shah tweeted a visual snippet from their meeting. Fr. Alex Maprani, Fr. Renny Mundenkurian, and Fr. Andrew Thazhath are all shown in a picture that Shah tweeted from their meeting.
However, specifics of the discussion with the top Catholic bishop remain undisclosed. As of yet, the church has not responded to it. The Archbishop also serves as the head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India.
Archbishop Thazhath had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi last December. According to him, the meeting had been about inviting Pope Francis to India.
During his visit to Kerala in April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had meetings with prominent bishops from several different churches. Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, the head of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, was among the eight spiritual leaders Modi met while in Kerala to inaugurate the state’s inaugural Vande Bharat Express.

New Era of Healthcare Service
As the chief guest on Sunday, Shah spoke at the Amrita Hospital’s silver jubilee festivities in Kochi, Kerala. He cited the accomplishments of the institute as evidence that a new era of service in the healthcare sector had begun. He asserted that it had also been decided to construct state-of-the-art facilities on the campuses of Amritapuri and Kochi with Amma’s consent. Over 1.85 lakh square feet would be included in its total area.

According to Mr. Shah, the Central Government has launched programmes like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Poshan Mission, Mission Indra Dhanush, Ayushman Bharat, and Jal Jeevan Mission in the previous nine years as part of a comprehensive effort to change healthcare.
Additionally, he mentioned that he had encountered Amma numerous times throughout his life and that each encounter had given him access to fresh consciousness and vitality. Thousands of individuals over the world have received Amma’s love and affection, according to him, and she has instilled these sentiments in everyone she comes in contact with in a genuine way.
Mr. Shah additionally inaugurated the institution’s two research centres. According to a statement from the hospital, the two new centres aim to address the issues of the average person by merging top-notch research fields and turning them into reasonably priced goods for creating resilient and sustainable communities.
Along with Mr. Shah, other participants were Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, the vice chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, State Health Minister Veena George, Agriculture Minister P. Prasad, Congress MP from Ernakulam Hibi Eden, Mayor M. Anilkumar, Congress MLA T.J. Vinod, and others.
